Hello, I’m Janelle!
I’m married to my best friend and have two beautiful daughters. I also have three fur babes, a cat and two dogs. I am a Certified Clinical Herbalist and Licensed Cosmetologist/Esthetician. I also teach dance fitness! I love being with my family and continuing to deepen my relationship with Jesus.
The last several years we moved around adventuring the mid-west, living in 4 different states and 6 cities. In early 2021 we decided to settle down in South Dakota closer to family and friends. Both my husband and I work in the trade industry and have been so blessed to be able to take our work on the road with us.
I studied cosmetology at Aveda- Minneapolis in 2007. I fell in love with the smell (of course!) and the companies original mission statement. We mixed hair color with natural base tones then added the pigments to create a customized color for each client - I still think it’s one of the best color lines! In the beginning of 2008, my first job out of college was at Accolades Salon and Spa (St. Paul, MN). I started out splitting my shifts training in the salon and helping test new products on models at Intelligent Nutrients (Minneapolis, MN) - Horst Rochelbacher's new product line after leaving Aveda (launching in July 2008). There, I really saw how important it is that what we put on our bodies should be safe enough to go in to our bodies as well - we even ate some of the products! I left the cities to move back to Iowa and in with my husband at the end of 2008. I opened my first salon in 2010 and taught dance at Dancers Unlimited (Spirit Lake, IA). In 2014 I closed the doors to my salon and decided to be a stay at home mom. That same year I opened up a small branch of the franchise Just For Kix . I did that for about 3.5 years and just loved it!! We began our adventure moving around the mid-west in March 2017, starting off in North Mankato, MN. I worked at a certified organic market/coffee shop and salon, it was a combination of all of the things in one spot. In the beginning of 2018 we moved to Colorado, where I opened a little salon suite in Highlands Ranch (soon switching to mobile hair - way more fun).
In 2016 my husband and I started using Juice Plus and herbal/homeopathic tinctures regularly. The benefits we felt physically, mentally, and emotionally, was amazing! That is when we started living a more natural/organic/clean lifestyle. After feeling better and working at the organic shop, I wanted more of an education on it all - Herbs was next! In January 2019 I enrolled in the "Herbalist Certification Program" at Herbalism Roots Denver, Colorado. After finishing the program and an apprenticeship with Certified Master Herbalist, Laura Clemmons, I received my Herbalist Certification in October 2020. Combining knowledge from Aveda/Intelligent Nutrients and Herbalism Roots into every recipe is so much fun! Every recipe is thoughtfully formulated then created, jam-packed with medicinal herbal actions that work in synergy. All of the products from Lip Balms - Herbal Teas - Bar Soaps have actions that can be useful for everyone in one way or another. Only organic, non-gmo, ethically sourced ingredients are used in every product. Recipes are formulated so that I know my family will love and actually use. I hope you enjoy them as much as we have.
